Going To College in Misawa
Misawa is a great place to further your education. Many people feel stuck at home all winter indoors with nothing to do. I would suggest signing up for some classes at the local colleges on-base. If you have already completed your education there are many teaching opportunities available. All the school offices are located in BLDG 653 (MPF & Pass and ID) on the second floor. Here is an overview of what schooling is available.
University of Maryland University College (UMUC) - This is the largest school at Misawa. UMUC offers programs for Associate, Bachelors, and Masters Degrees as well as Certificate programs. They have many classes offered onsite and through distance education (online). For more information on degree programs please visit the following link.

Central Texas College (CTC) - Focusing on Associate Degrees this college offers a variety of fields to choose from. They also provide the Adult High School Diploma Program. Onsite classes as well as distance learning is available. For more information please see the website below or contact the CTC Representative at misawa.jpn.pfec@ctcd.edu.

University of Phoenix (UOP) - The Misawa branch of this college is mainly focused on Master's Programs. A sample of the degree's offered include Master of Arts in Education (elementary and secondary) and the Master of Business Administration. Hello! I am a civilian living off base without base access. Do you know if it's possible to take GRE on base? Thank you!
Hi! My husband and I will be moving to Misawa this coming up summer. I was wondering, do you know any schools on base or off that offers nursing programs? Right now, I'm only taking general ed, I havent done my pre-req's but i'm planning to. do you know what schools out there that i can apply to or check out?
THANKS!
The education office just refers you to tokyo to take the GRE, and if you're active duty then they will reimburse you the $400 fee. Though after this fiscal year it will no longer be free for us military members (or civilians in your case). Tokyo is the closest place to take it though.
No nursing onbase, but Univ of Maryland would be your best bet because of their long list of online Biology class in things such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology that would translate back to a school once you leave Misawa. There is another program called Excelsior, look into that.
