Ok-- I have finally arrived at Misawa after months of faithfully watching your web page! I have got to go check out what a 'cheese roll' is now. :)

We found a house off-base right near the Jam Friends Club. What a bright sign! Whoa!

Cheese Rolls were my favorite!! Then we finally found the cheese they used in the cheese rolls, thanks to a Japanese friend. All I remember was that the cheese was in a clear package with red Japanese writing on it. I never did find out what kind of cheese that was. Now I'm back in the states, if anyone knows what kind of cheese that was, would you please.. please email it to me. amberj621@yahoo.com

Hi, I live in Misawa with my husband and two sons. We all love cheese roll and cook often at home.

//Cheese roll receipe//

Ingredience
*Processed cheese (If you can't find them in U.S., use string cheese for substitution)
*Gyoza or Wantan wrapping paper

Put the cheese on the front side of wrapping paper and roll them up together.
Seal the end of paper with water and deep fry the roll until crisp.

*I am not a native English speaker so please excuse my English skill..

my husband would ask me several times if i wanted to eat here, but by listening to the name, i was like "nah"...boy was i wrong! BEST cheese rolls i've had [I've tried the ones at Karinba Chinese Restaurant, but they were just okay] & I also love their yakisoba. the ramen's not so bad here either! YUMMY!

Cheese Rolls are made with Camembert Cheese, which you can find at Walmart, finally! I asked several of the ladies at the various restraunts in Misawa while I was there, and one of them finally brought me a wrapper. If you ask, they tell you "processed cheese" which here in the US is pretty much all cheese. Anyway, wrap the camembert (it's right by the brie in a round box) right into a won ton wrapper, and fry them. I use a small skillet, had waaaay too much cheese loss in a deep fryer.

Best wishes to all!

Does anyone know what the sauce is called that is in the taller bottle at Cheese Roll? It has a sweeter taste.

My dad was an F16 pilot stationed at Misawa from 1993 and 1996. I was ages 6 to 9, but I stillll crave the cheese rolls! I was just telling my fiance about this restaurant a couple days ago, so I decided to Google it. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who misses it! Hopefully I'll be back soon :).

We left Misawa six years ago. Our son will turn 20 in one month and the only thing he asked for was to make him cheese-rolls. I took a stab and here it is. This site has put a huge smile on my face and I am going to try and make Vinie's wish for a day come true. Thanks for all the tips....

Outstanding. I was stationed at Misawa AB Japan and this was one of the first places I visited for real Japanese food. LOVE IT!! My family and I frequented the place weekly.

I was bored and decided to googel cheese roll noodle. I was stationed at Misawa from 1998 - 2001 and we frequented Cheese Roll Noodle. I've been trying to find a recipe for cheese rolls, yakisoba and beef dunbri for a while now. I have saved this site as a fave to come back to. If anyone knows of any recipes please feel free to email me...LHenry78@gmail.com

I searched for years to find the perfect cheese for the cheese roll as they do not import "Snow" brand cheese to the states. I found that the Laughing Cow cheese is the closest thing to the taste of those in Misawa. I tried Camembert, cream cheese, string cheese, etc, and Laughing cow is definitely the closest. Friends who was stationed more recently than I tried them and said it was the exact taste they remember. So if you make your own, try the laughing cow.

The Japanese told me to use the "farmer's cheese" that is in a clear wrapper with red writing sold in almost all their grocery stores. It is exactly the same...not the Snow brand either. Stateside we use Mexican queso blanco. We tried the German butter cheese but all the cheese ran out because it was too soft. Hope this helps.

OMG I so miss the Cheese Roll. I wish I could get them to send me some cheese rolls and some spicy shrimp yakisoba. We practically lived at the Cheese Roll when we were in Misawa. I cried when we left. D.Fernandes

For Cheese Gyozas I use Spring roll wrappers and Monterey Jack Cheese, and of course a side of soy sauce to dip them in. Yum!! Fry them up in a fry pan instead of a deep fryer so they don't ooze out!!

I lived in Misawa from July 02-April of 04 and LOVED IT. Tori-masa (Drunken Noodle) is my favorite place to eat on a stumbling night back from J-Draw or 13s.

honestly, if i could get back there tomorrow, i'd be buying some fried squid, cheese rolls, Asahi, and some chicken fried rice. (And if you wanna stay on base, go to the Mokuteki and get a turkey wrap...they melt cheese onto the wrap before filling with turketty goodness.)

I know I sound like a broken record, everybody else is saying something similar, but I can't believe this place and those cheese rolls are online! It was so long ago...circa 1992 when I passed through Misawa for just a few weeks, and I loved them so much. The place had a different name back then. I want to say it was something like "Snack Companion." But that's definitely the same place. Sometimes twice a day I would eat there. I was also never able to re-create them.
