Great info; but I didn't see a housing office for off base housing. My family and I will be moving from Okinawa to Misawa in around May. We currently live off base here (love it) and would like to continue living off base when we get to Misawa. Ideas?
Right now there isn't a house available for rent.... I have been looking :( Many people are trying to move off before they open the new housing up and force people to stay on.
If you look at the misawa off-base directory there is the most popular rental agencies on there. Good luck and I will post more info soon!
Justin - May is a good time to move to Misawa as it's right at the beginning of the PCS season and many of the folks moving out during the summer have given notice to realtors, thus there's housing available. Don't make the mistake of delaying your arrival to the end of the summer as housing is extremely tight at that time. When you arrive, contact the off-base realtors listed in the real estate section above. They have info on what's available. You have to go through the housing office for approval, b ut they're absolutely worthless in regards to actually finding a place to live. Good luck and welcome to Misawa.
