A little about life in Misawa, Japan.... The great places, stupid things that happen to me, tips and tricks to make life easier in Misawa and random things I find in Japan while tugging two maniacs... children along for the ride.
UPDATED LINK (thank you!) If you can't get into the movie you want on Misawa AB, check out the Shimoda Mall movie theater. The seating is better, but the price is higher. Click the link below and once on the page click the red theater search button. Have Fun!
Watching movies in a Japanese theater is a little different than in the U.S. First, at roughly $20, it's a little more expensive than back home. Second, you choose your seat before you enter the theater, which is kinda neat. Third, the mix of American and Japanese movie trailers, plus the unique 'be quiet / put your cell phone in manners mode / don't kick the seat in front of you' public service advertisements are fun. And finally, the Japanese make ZERO sounds during the show. The first time I cracked up at a funny scene in a comedy and no one else made a peep, I was a little embarassed. Now I try to laugh on the inside (not always so good at it, though).
It is expensive, but the experience is worth it. I treat myself to a movie there once in a while. The hot dogs, caramel popcorn, and beer are a nice dinner/snack at the movie! The newer 3D movies at Toho are, in my experience, superior to the 3D movies I have seen stateside.

the toho cinemas changed their website address. you should change your link. newcomers might have a difficult time finding the new one.
