Weather in Misawa

All the rain lately brought me to post a little about the weather here in Misawa. The city is on about the same latitude as New York City and Rome. The four seasons are viewable and are very beautiful! Here is the breakdown by month:

January-
Misawa is covered in a blanket of snow. The best part of the month is after a heavy snow storm the sun comes out and it is time to play!

February-
More snow! The city of Misawa gets over a hundred inches of snow per year. All the ski resorts are busy and open.

March-
Very little snow, but more rain. The brown ice is melting around the town and spring is near...

April-
The best month of the year! Cherry blossoms are blooming and the nights are chilly.

May-
Fair weather until the end of the month when rain begins. More flowers blooming around town and everything is green.

June-
Known to the locals as the rainy month. The spring rains are here and the rice fields are filled with water.

July-
The start of the festival season in Misawa brings warmer weather. Sunny days are beautiful and travel season around the island is active.

August-
More festivals and more warm weather. Can be hot and humid but only for a few days at a time.

September-
Another great month here in Northern Japan. The month of the air show can bring cloudy weather leading into a chilly autumn.

October-
The colors of the trees are changing. Hokkaido is a beautiful place to see as well as Lake Towada and Oirase Gorge. Halloween costumes should be warm :)

November-
Some years Misawa gets a light snowfall around Thanksgiving Day. Temperatures drop and the leaves fall from the trees.

December-
The snowy season is here! Change your tires on the cars and bring out the snowsuits. Sleds and snow equipment can be bought off-base or at outdoor recreation. Snow Festivals are schedule all over Northern Japan and Hokkaido.
